Those of you who’ve known me for a while, know that when it comes to comic reading, my tastes run strictly towards the classic superhero style. It takes something special to get me to spend my hard earned money on anything other than Batman, Spidey and the occasional X-men title. I have just run across something at the Pulse that may make me take one of those rare jaunts outside the classic superhero genre. I’m talking about Dream Police, an upcoming Marvel title by a writer/artist pair that I consider the Dynamic Duo of Marvel; J. Michael Straczynski, the guy that revived Amazing Spider-Man and got me to rediscover my love for the Wall-Crawler, and Mike Deodato Jr., one of my all-time favourite artists and current Amazing Spidey artist.
A book about a couple of “cops” that make sure the people/creatures in our dreams do their jobs right? Sounds interesting, and cheezy and like it could get oh, so very messy. But as well all know, JMS is pretty good at keeping a handle on things with a high “potential mess factor” (Babylon 5 anyone?), so this title may be worth a look at when it comes out.
In related news, the Pulse also has an article about some new Babylon 5 novels and comics that Mongoose Publishing will be releasing over the next few months.
