More Than Meets The Eye

Well folks, since I returned to a more consistent blogging pattern, I’ve noticed that my posts have been almost entirely automotive-centric, with the odd WW post about Hela or guys falling down stairs :D. So I decided that today I would make a completely non-automotive post. However dear readers, with contrition in my heart, I have to admit that I have broken this mental resolution of mine. The reason for this transgression is that last night I watched the greatest car company advert that I have ever seen. They call it Transformers, but they do not have me fooled; it was a two hour, and a bit, long ad for General Motors.

Pissin Nissans and Hoondas

Jad and I are both learning how to drive the 180sx. It’s a bit of a beast, or as he describes it, it’s like an automotive equivalent of an ADHD sufferer. It certainly wants to go, go and keep going. It’s almost unsatisfying driving a 180 on city streets because you’ve barely got your foot on the “go” pedal before you’ve hit the speed limit and have to lift it off again. The 180 is a car that just wants to accelerate through all the gears as quickly as possibly until it hits its max speed. I can see why it makes a good track car.

Something Fishy

Tehehe, on the way to work today I got a little tire squeal and a slight fishtail out of the 180. I wasn’t going very fasted (50kmh zone) so the car gripped and straightened almost before I realised what had happened, but I know what Jad means about rwd cars now. Just point the front in the direction you want to go and the back will follow… eventually. :D I knew I’d do this sometime, and I thought it’d scare me when it happened, but it didn’t. Hehehe I found myself grinning the rest of the way to work.

Dreams Do Come True?

Well, I’ve been busy over the last few days. Busy organising the trade-in of the two Mitsubishis in our family; my Lancer and my mom’s Magna (otherwise known as “the barge”) for my new Nissan 180sx. Yes, you read right. I’ve finally got one. It is actually the car that I talked about a couple of posts back. As it turns out, the guy who tried to buy it before me was an 18 year old. His age, the turbo in the car and the fact that he needed finance meant that no insurance company was willing to go anywhere near him. Saturday morning I got the call telling me I could go look at the car if I still want it, so Jad and I went straight out the door, and now I own it. I even managed to find some affordable insurance cover. Although fuel on the other hand is looking to be somewhat less affordable :D .

More Choices

After walking through a few car yards yesterday, two new options have come up; Preludes and Celicas. While I’m not eager to own a “Sillycar”, I know my reticence has more to do with the image associated with it, rather than the car’s performance, so I’m willing to give it a try. I do hear that its quite a fun car to drive. Now the preludes, I’ve liked them since I was in high school so I can’t say I’ll mind giving one of them a go.

General Updatey Stuff

Still haven’t gotten around to uploading those puppy and kitty pics I’ve been meaning to turn into WW posts. Bah, maybe today. Although I’ve got a lot of shopping and filing to do today.
